About
On a world still ruled by the classes and guilds, Andrea Corsair dreams of a life more romantic than the one assigned to her. Her extraordinary ability with machines (and an uncommonly precise sense of hearing) finds Andrea entangled in a conflict between the Empire of her birth and a country of anarchists seeking to uproot the norm.
If this is the adventure she asked for, where is her knight in shining armor?

- Andrea Corsair
Andrea Corsair is the seventeen year old daughter of a watchmaker and music box maker, Adolpho Corsair. She has an intuitive knack with machines (mostly through an extremely keen sense of hearing), though she’s aware this is not a proper pursuit for a lady. Clumsy, plain, scatterbrained, and prone to daydreams, she feels there’s not much about her that’s very ladylike at all. She dreams of being the kind of proper lady that her parents can be proud of, but more than anything she dreams that a prince will come take her away from her all too ordinary life.
Adolfo Corsair, Andrea's Father
The owner of Corsair Clockworks, Adolpho Corsair is a member of the gradually expanding “middle class.” Despite his competency in his craft, he is often doubtful, and has a great fear of large crowds. To his dismay, Andrea picked up his habit of stuttering and his nervousness around others. Long ago his hopes to join the Mechanists’ Guild were dashed when he was rejected, and instead has built a business on jewelry making, watch matching, and, his true passion, music boxes. His success is growing thanks to the interest of a magus under the employ of the local Baron, Magus Nikolos.
Edlyn Corsair, Andrea's Mother
Edlyn Corsair is the wife of Adolpho Corsair and mother of Andrea. She aides her often forgetful husband in his shop, and does the lion’s share of the business matters. While she believes firmly in what is proper, Edlyn often oversteps her boundaries as a woman, and has a temper she does her best to keep secret.
Master Magus Nikolos
Magus Nikolos is the court magus of Baron Ventaris of St. Emile. Considered eccentric even for a mage, there are few who act with anything other than respect for his title. Nikolos revels in the freedom this allows him, not bothering to keep up appearances further than he is required. Recently he has taken interest in the affairs of the talented music box maker Adolpho Corsair, introducing him to the courts. It is also Nikolos who conceived the idea of music boxes shaped like birds that actually “sing,” of which Nikolos is certain will become quite popular (much to Adolpho’s simultaneous eagerness and trepidation).
Sir Allen Ventaris
The only son (but middle child of three children) of St. Emile’s Baron Ventaris, Sir Alan Ventaris is a member of the Royal Knights. At nineteen he is young for his current position as judge of civil courts. He is well aware his father pulled what strings were necessary to keep Allen away from the war front, and is not exactly grateful. On another note, young Sir Alan is also the object of many a girl’s desires in St. Emile, at nineteen still stubbornly not seeking a bride.
Julia Corsair, Andrea's Younger Sister
Julia Corsair is currently 12, and Andrea’s younger sister. She is full of energy and the latest gossip, and is far more of a typical girl than her older sister. She is fond of frilly things, sewing, dancing (though she is quite terrible), and toying with the young hearts of the neighborhood boys. Certainly young Julia is prepared to seek a suitor, much more eagerly than her prudish, daydreaming sibling.
A Young Journeyman
A mysterious magus, claiming to be a Journeyman from the Magus Guild. Around Andrea’s age, the young magus held the message that Andrea found after the two collided. Andrea then found that this young man has agents from the Denmoran state on his trail …
Pascal, a Familiar
Traveling alongside the young magus is his familiar, Pascal. Being a familiar, he has a greater degree of intelligence than the average hawk–evident from his ability to take direct orders from his master, and the clearly human stares he gives.
